River's Edge Trail Race
The River's Edge Trail Race takes place in downtown Georgetown, Texas, utilizing a network of single-track dirt trails that link several local parks. The course primarily hugs the banks of the San Gabriel River, offering a mix of hard-packed flowy sections, technical terrain, and brief sections of crushed granite and paved paths. While the route follows the river with minimal overall elevation change, it includes short gravity drops and climbs.
The event offers several trail running distances:
- 50 km (two loops of the 25 km course)
- 25 km
- 10 miles
- 5 miles
- Youth 1 mile (untimed out-and-back)
In addition to the running events, the schedule includes cross-country mountain bike races held on a dedicated single-track loop. These distances include approximately 22 miles (two laps) and 11 miles (one lap), with a specific category for E-bikes in the shorter distance.
The race is a cupless event, requiring participants to carry their own hydration systems. Aid stations are positioned in a cloverleaf layout, allowing runners to return to a central location every 4 to 6 miles. Registration includes a finisher medal and event swag, such as a shirt or hat. Top finishers in the running events receive awards for the top three overall male and female runners, as well as masters categories for those 50 and older.
