Geelong River Run
The Geelong River Run is an annual community event held at Barwon Valley Park in Belmont. The course follows the trails along the banks of the Barwon River, providing a scenic environment for participants. This event is designed to be inclusive, welcoming athletes, families, and walkers.
Participants can choose from two distinct distances:
- 10km Run
- 5km Run or Walk
The event includes professional organization and focuses on community connection and movement. All finishers receive a commemorative medal upon crossing the finish line. Those who register early have the opportunity to receive personalized race bibs. On-site services include a medal engraving marquee where participants can have their official time and name added to their finisher medal for a fee.
A significant aspect of the Geelong River Run is its charitable component. The event supports River's Gift to raise awareness and funds for SIDS research. Every entry and donation contributes to this mission. Registration takes place at Barwon Valley Park, with pre-event bib collection typically available at a local running store in Geelong in the days leading up to the race.
