River Run for the Roots
River Run for the Roots is a timed 3.1 Miles community run and walk held on October 3, 2026 in South Glens Falls, New York. The looped course starts and finishes in the Park & Ride lot behind Common Roots Brewery at 58 Saratoga Ave and follows village streets, including the Betar Byway along the Hudson River.
About half a mile of the route follows a gravel path (the SGF Beach Bikeway); the remainder is on paved surfaces. There is a designated stroller division; entrants in that division must push another person in a stroller to be eligible for division awards. Strollers with larger wheels are recommended for the gravel section.
The event is a fundraiser for the Common Roots Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports community wellness, environmental stewardship, and assistance programs in northeastern New York. Post-race beer and food are offered at Common Roots Brewery.
Registration pricing and deadlines are published for early, pre-registration, and race-day/in-person categories, with online registration windows noted in organizer materials. The first 200 registrants receive race shirts. Awards include top three overall men and women and top three by age group in standard age categories plus the stroller division. Parking is available in the Park & Ride lot behind Common Roots. Sponsorship levels and in-kind donation options are available with a submission deadline of September 1.
