Saratoga First Day 5K

The Saratoga First Day 5K is a USATF-certified 5K (3.1-mile) road event held in downtown Saratoga Springs on January 1, 2027. The course starts on Broadway in front of the Saratoga Springs City Center and finishes behind the City Center on Maple Avenue.

The route runs south through downtown Broadway, turns left onto Lake Avenue and passes Lake Avenue Elementary School and the East Side Rec fields. Runners then turn left onto Patricia Lane, connect to Excelsior Spring Avenue for a downhill segment, and may use a section of the Spring Run Trail toward East Avenue if conditions allow. The final stretch follows Excelsior Avenue uphill to Maple Avenue and the finish behind the City Center.

Registration offers timed run entries and walk entries that may be timed or untimed, plus a bundled option that combines this event with the Firecracker 4 in July. Packet pick-up is scheduled on January 1, 2027, at the Saratoga Springs City Center from 7:30 to 10:45 a.m. Volunteer roles include course marshals, packet pick-up staff, and water stop teams to support the event on course and at logistics locations.
