River Rat Run - Gas City
The River Rat Run is a 5K running event held on July 11, 2026, in Gas City, Indiana (211 East Main Street, Gas City, IN 46933). The course begins on A Street behind City Hall, proceeds north on 3rd Street to the track at Missisinewa High School, includes a few laps on the track, follows the perimeter of the school property and passes through a trail in the woods, then returns via Garthwaite Road, H Street, and 3rd Street to finish at the City Hall Pavilion.
Registration opens February 5, 2026 and closes June 6, 2026. Early bird registration by June 1 guarantees an official race shirt for a $20 fee; registration after June 1 is $25. Sign-in and registration take place at Hutchins Commons (the pavilion just west of City Hall).
Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Age groups are: 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+.
Proceeds from the event support Main Street Gas City, an organization that works to strengthen vitality in the downtown district and to celebrate Gas City’s historic character while bringing the community together. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
