Event Details
The River Rat Run takes place on Saturday, July 11, 2026. It features one event: a 5k race. Registration for this event costs $20, with a price increase scheduled after June 6, 2026.
Course Description
The 5k course starts on A Street behind City Hall in Gas City, Indiana. It heads north on 3rd Street to the track at Mississinewa High School. After a few laps on the track, the route continues along the perimeter of the school property and through a trail in the woods. Runners exit the woods onto Garthwaite Road, take a left onto H Street, a right back onto 3rd Street, and finish at the City Hall Pavilion.
Registration and Awards
Sign-in and registration are held at Hutchins Commons, a pavilion west of City Hall. Awards are presented after the last finisher. Awards are given to the overall top male and female runners, and to the top three male or female runners in each age group. The age groups are: 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60+.
Purpose
Proceeds from the race support Main Street Gas City, an organization focused on strengthening vitality in the downtown district and celebrating the city's historic character. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
