Ritter Way Challenge 5K Run and Walk
The Ritter Way Challenge is a 5K Run and a 5K Walk held at Mill Pond Kennels, 1222 Wall Rd, Broussard LA 70518. The event offers both a timed run division with age group awards and a walk division with overall awards.
Participants receive gift bags that may include certificates, koozies, cooling towels, snacks, water and other items. The first 35 runners to register will receive a commemorative Jamieson Ritter Challenge coin. Medals are awarded for first through third place in each age division for the 5K Run. Trophies are presented to the first male and first female overall in both the run and the walk.
Age divisions for the 5K Run are 1 to 14, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and 70 plus, separated by male and female categories. Team entries are allowed and will be scored as individuals; teams of five or more receive a 10% registration discount.
Registration fee schedule is listed as March 2 - April 2 for $30, April 3 - May 29 for $35, and May 30 race day for $40. Packet pickup takes place at the race site on May 30. The race benefits the Jamieson Ritter Foundation, which supports scholarships, community safety programs and outreach between law enforcement and communities.
