Location, course and history
The primary venue is Acadiana Park, 1205 E. Alexander St., Lafayette, LA 70501. Primary parking is at David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy (805 Teurlings Dr.), about a half-mile from the start; a shuttle is provided or runners can use an 800-meter warm-up run. There is minimal parking at Acadiana Park.
The Cajun Country Run began in 2002 and became a primary supporter of the TRAIL organization in 2010. Proceeds have supported land purchases in 2012 and improvements to local trails and the mountain bike trail system. The half marathon course was changed in 2014 from a double loop with cross country sections to an all-road single loop and was certified by USATF. A costume contest (Santa outfits) is mentioned for race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
