Cajun Country Run
Cajun Country Run is a multi-distance running event held at Acadiana Park in Lafayette, LA on Saturday, Dec 19, 2026. The event began in 2002 and became a primary supporter of T.R.A.I.L. in 2010. Proceeds have supported property purchases and trail improvements at Acadiana Park and funded benches and map stands installed in 2018.
The event offers six distance options:
- Half marathon, USATF certified single loop
- 10k road course
- 5k road course
- 10k trail course
- 5k trail course
- One mile fun run
Course details vary by distance. The half marathon is a certified road loop with three small climbs under 20 feet and seven water stations. The 10k road course is primarily asphalt with about two miles of packed gravel, two small climbs, and three water stations. The 5k road course is mainly asphalt with two small climbs and two water stations. Trail options mix cross country and single track; the 10k trail includes technical sections along the Vermilion River. The one mile fun run uses a half mile loop on a paved path.
Awards include gator head trophies for top overall and masters divisions, age-group license plate awards, and finishers medals for all. Santa Claus costume divisions receive judged prizes. Free race photos are provided by a sponsor. The starting area is in Acadiana Park near the courts and pavilion; primary parking is at the nearby school with shuttle service to the park.
