About the race
Running for Justice 5K 10K Half Marathon RISING HEARTS 2027 is a community fundraising run and virtual event organized by Rising Hearts to support families and advocates addressing missing and murdered Indigenous relatives. The event offers both virtual participation and in-person run options previously held as 5K run/walks on May 3, May 5, and May 9, 2026. Virtual participants can upload times and photos during the designated window from May 1 to May 10.
The event structure includes multiple distance options:

Rising Hearts frames the event as a way to honor and uplift missing and murdered Indigenous relatives, support families, and amplify advocacy work. Fundraising is a core purpose: past campaigns raised more than $75,000 in 2021 with specified donations to national and regional Indigenous organizations, approximately $21,000 in 2022 distributed to several groups, and about $18,000 in 2023. The current fundraising goal is to raise $10,000 to give back to communities and support efforts to address systemic barriers and violence.
