Rising Hearts Running for Justice Half Marathon
Rising Hearts Running for Justice is a community running and fundraising event offering virtual and in-person options. The event lists three distance options and includes a virtual participation window for submitting results and photos.
Registration is not yet open. Virtual participants may upload times and photos during the period May 1 to May 10. Past in-person 5K run/walk options were held May 3, May 5, and May 9, 2026.

The event focuses on raising funds and awareness for missing and murdered Indigenous relatives and related advocacy work. Organizers report past fundraising and donations: in 2021 more than $75,000 raised with distributions including over $30,000 to the National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center and $16,000 to the Native Women’s Society of the Great Plains; in 2022 just over $21,000 was donated to several organizations; in 2023 about $18,000 was raised. The current fundraising goal is $10,000 to support community organizations and family advocates.
Merchandise and incentives are part of the event; registrants who join team Rising Hearts are eligible for a drawing with up to 10 free Rising Hearts shirts, and registrants who add an extra donation are eligible for a drawing with up to 4 free pairs of running shoes. Red Rising Hearts shirts are available through Rising Hearts. The program also mentions team participation, stickers, sponsorship or donated entries, and a week of virtual events related to the cause.
