Rising Hearts Running for Justice
Rising Hearts Running for Justice is a fundraising run and week of virtual events organized to honor and support missing and murdered Indigenous relatives, their families, and the advocates working in these communities. The event includes in-person and virtual participation options and offers several distance choices.
Registration is not yet open. All virtual participants can upload times and photos between May 1 and May 10. Previous in-person 5K run/walk options were held on May 3, May 5, and May 9, 2026.
The event aims to raise funds to support community organizations and families affected by violence. The stated fundraising goal for the upcoming activities is $10,000. Past campaigns have raised substantial sums and directed donations to Indigenous organizations and to families and advocates; specific past donations included over $30,000 and $16,000 to two organizations in 2021, just over $21,000 given to multiple organizations in 2022, and $18,000 raised in 2023.
Event features and options include team registration, sponsored entries and donations, and event merchandise. Running For Justice shirts are available through Rising Hearts. The event is framed around community building, awareness, and giving back to organizations and families engaged in advocacy and support work.
