Rhino Run : Skellingthorpe
Circuit Running presents the Rhino Run, a six hour timed challenge that allows participants to complete distances from a 5K up to an ultra marathon within the event time limit. The event supports Save the Rhino; a portion of the entry proceeds will be directed to that cause.
The course is a 3.28 mile lap primarily along an old railway line on tarmac, with a short section on the field at the start and finish of each lap. The route is out and back with no navigation required. A 5K turn point will be in place; a 10K equals two 5K laps, a half marathon is four laps of the 3.28 mile circuit, a marathon is eight laps, and an ultra marathon is nine or more laps.
On-course support includes a table at the end of each lap supplying water, squash, fizzy drinks and a variety of food. Toilets are located at the pavilion on the playing field. Parking is available at the Skellingthorpe Community Centre car park. Finishers receive a bespoke Rhino themed medal and a goody bag.
The event is licensed by the TRA and run under UKA Athletics rules. Standard entry is listed at GBP 28. Age-based maximum distance limits apply: ages 12-13 up to 5,000 m; 14-15 up to 6,000 m; age 16 up to 10,000 m; age 17 up to 25,000 m; ages 18-19 up to 45,000 m; age 20 and over no maximum distance.
