Rhino Run - Skellingthorpe
The Rhino Run is a timed multi-distance event focused on raising awareness for rhino conservation. Participants have a 6 hour window to complete their chosen distance, with the option to start a final lap up until the time limit is reached. The event supports conservation efforts through its proceeds.
The course utilizes an out and back route that requires no navigation. It consists primarily of a tarmac path along an old railway line, with short grass sections at the start and finish of each lap. Each lap measures 3.28 miles, though specific turn points are established for shorter distances.
Available distances include:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
- Ultra Marathon
Age-based distance restrictions apply following UKA Athletics rules, ranging from a 5,000m limit for ages 12-13 up to no maximum distance for participants aged 20 and over.
An aid station is located at the end of every lap, providing water, squash, fizzy drinks, and various food items. Facilities at the site include toilets at the pavilion and parking at the Skellingthorpe Community Centre. All finishers receive a rhino-themed medal and a goody bag. The event is licensed by the TRA. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
