Sherwood Pines Festive Duathlons
The Sherwood Pines Festive Duathlons take place in December within the 3,300 acres of Nottinghamshire woodland at Sherwood Pines. Located near Mansfield, the venue is approximately 20 minutes from the A1 and M1. The event features off-road courses set among pine trees and activity trails, utilizing the natural terrain of the forest.
Participants can choose from two main duathlon distances, with options for individual entry or relay teams:
- Festive Sprint Duathlon: A 5 km run, followed by a 15 km cycle, and finishing with a 2.5 km run.
- Festive Standard Duathlon: A 10 km run, followed by a 30 km cycle, and finishing with a 5 km run.
The cycling portion of the event is conducted on trails and is intended for off-road bikes. A secure transition area is provided for competitors, where bike and bib numbers are verified for equipment security. The event utilizes live chip timing for all participants.
At the conclusion of the event, finishers receive a medal, merchandise, and festive refreshments including mince pies, chocolates, and drinks. Subsidised parking is available on-site at the Forestry England facilities. This event is open to participants aged 16 and over, while concurrent trail runs and a family mile are also hosted at the same location.
