Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals
Rescue Run: Race for Marine Mammals is an annual fundraising event presented by Meredith Village Savings Bank to benefit the Seacoast Science Center’s Marine Mammal Rescue program. The event includes a chip timed 5K trail race and a Kids Fun Run held at Odiorne Point State Park.
The event features these distances:
- 5K trail race
- 300 yard dash for ages 1 to 7
- Half mile kids run for ages 8 to 12
The 5K course runs through varied terrain: forest trails, rocky shoreline, a sandy beach, and sections alongside historic military fortifications, with views of the Gulf of Maine and Little Harbor. The 5K trail is not stroller friendly. Dogs are not allowed in Odiorne Point State Park. Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult on the 5K.
Event details include a moisture wicking short sleeve race shirt in adult sizes; the first 150 registrants receive a free shirt and shirts can be purchased for $20 during registration. Prizes are awarded for the fastest male and female overall times and for top finishers in each age group. A beach cleanup with Blue Ocean Society takes place after the run. Corporate partners support the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
