Rehoboth End DWI and support June Camp 5k, 10k, and 1-mile walk/run
This community fundraising event in Church Rock, New Mexico combines competitive and noncompetitive running and walking to raise money for a local June Camp program and a DWI memorial project. All funds from the event remain in Gallup and are divided between the DWI Memorial Wall Project and Rehoboth’s June Camp.
Course and services information is as follows. The 5k and 10k use dirt trails for most of the route; only the start and finish areas are paved. The terrain includes hills and sandy sections and offers views of nearby red rock formations. Timing is provided with bibs and timing chips, and awards are given for first through third place in age groups and overall for male and female categories. Aid stations are located near the 1.5 mile, 3 mile, and 4.2 mile marks. Event-day announcements, finish-line commentary, music, and immediate results are provided.
Separate out-and-back pavement is used for the 1 mile walk; it is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. Dogs are allowed only on the 1 mile walk and must be leashed. The new kids 1 mile run is for participants 14 and under, is not timed, is on sandy hilly terrain not suitable for strollers, and awards a medal and a popsicle to finishers.
There are dedicated 5k team competitions for law enforcement, EMS, and teachers. Teams are five members from the same agency or school and must include at least two females. Team scoring sums individual places; a traveling trophy is awarded. Individual and team entry options are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
