Regatta Run 5K : Tualatin, Oregon
The Regatta Run is an annual 5K run and walk held in Tualatin in October in conjunction with the West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta. The event is organized by the Tualatin Rotary Regatta Run Team and raises funds for first-generation college scholarships at Tualatin High School and for programs serving school-aged children in the local community.
The course starts at Tualatin Community Park on 8515 SW Tualatin Road and follows scenic trails, crosses a footbridge, passes through Durham Park and Cook Park, and returns to the park. The course is described as flat and is open to runners, walkers, stroller riders, and four-legged friends. Participants sometimes wear costumes and a trick-or-treating experience for youth follows the event. A new quarter mile kids dash for ages 4 to 12 takes place shortly before the main 5K.
The event was founded in memory of a Tualatin High School graduate who died while serving in Afghanistan. Net proceeds support Tualatin Rotary scholarship programs and local youth opportunities. The event is part of the community harvest activities held on the third Sunday in October. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
