Red, White & ZOOM Rocket Pop 5K
This event is a new USATF certified 5K held on July 4 in Athens, Alabama, along the Swan Creek Greenway. The course is certified under USATF certificate #AL26026JE. The race uses the Athens Sportsplex swimming pool area for both the start and the finish and includes a turn-around point roughly halfway along the route.
The course has no significant hills, with grades under 3 percent. Timing is provided with professional RFID chip timing by Race Ready Events. Two aid and recovery stations are provided: one at the start/finish area offering hydration, first aid, snacks, and electrolytes, and one on course between mile 1 and mile 2 offering water and first aid.
Early packet pick-up is available the day before the race at 100N Beaty Street in the brick building by the duck pond, and race-day packet pick-up is located at the Sportsplex swimming pool parking lot. Registered entrants who sign up by June 15 are guaranteed a special race cooling towel; towels after that date are available only while supplies last. Free on-site parking is available. Strollers are permitted at the back of the pack. Bikes, scooters, skateboards, push bikes, unicycles, wagons and similar devices are not allowed. Pets are not allowed.
