Red, White & ZOOM Rocket Pop 5K
The Red, White & ZOOM Rocket Pop 5K is a new certified 5-kilometer running event held in Athens, Alabama on July 4, 2026. The course follows the Swan Creek Greenway and has a turnaround point roughly halfway. Both the start and finish are located at the Athens Sportsplex by the swimming pool.
The course carries USATF certification number AL26026JE and has no significant hills, with grades under 3 percent. The event is professionally RFID chip timed by Race Ready Events. Two aid and recovery stations are provided: one at the start and finish area offering hydration, first aid, snacks, and electrolytes, and one on course between mile 1 and 2 offering water and first aid.
Early packet pickup is available on Friday, July 3 at 100N Beaty Street in the brick building by the duck pond. Race day packet pickup is offered at the Sportsplex swimming pool parking lot. Free parking is available on site. Strollers are allowed at the back of the pack; pets are not permitted. Bikes, scooters, skateboards, push bikes, unicycles, wagons, and similar devices are not allowed on the course.
Registration opens May 1, 2026 and closes June 1, 2026. The registration fee for the 5K is $25. Runners who register by June 15 are guaranteed a special race cooling towel. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
