RecSports 5K Fun Run & Walk
The RecSports 5K Fun Run & Walk is a point-to-point event taking place in Knoxville, Tennessee. The course begins at the TRECS Plaza on Volunteer Blvd and follows a route through Andy Holt Ave and over Cumberland Ave into Tyson Park. From there, participants follow the Third Creek Greenway to the finish line located at the RecSports Sutherland Field Complex. The greenway remains open to the public during the race.
Participants can choose between two primary activities:
- 5K running race
- 5K walk
The event features chip-timed finishes for both runners and walkers. A water station is available at the halfway point along the greenway. Restroom facilities are provided at both the start and finish locations. Following the event, festivities at the recreational fields include food and an award ceremony. All finishers receive a medal. Awards are presented to the top three male and female runners, as well as the top performers in ten-year age increments ranging from 14 and under to 70 and older.
For logistics, a shuttle service operates between the finish area at the Sutherland Field Complex and the starting line at TRECS. Participants are encouraged to park at the finish area to utilize the shuttle transportation. The event takes place rain or shine, and headphones are strongly discouraged for safety reasons.
