Event Overview
The Cork Rebel Run is an annual community running event in Cork City that has been held since 2012. Organised by the Cork Sports Partnership, MTU Sports Department, and Leisureworld Cork, the event provides participants with a choice of two distances:
- 5 km
- 10 km
The event is held at the Munster Technological University (MTU) Cork Campus in Bishopstown. Both routes begin from the MTU tiered carpark and conclude on the MTU athletics track. The 10 km course primarily utilizes quiet county roads for the first seven kilometers before moving onto pedestrianized sections of the Curraheen River Walk. The 5 km route features a mix of road running and the Curraheen River Walk.
Participation and Registration
The event is open to adults of all fitness levels, with a minimum age requirement of 15 years. Registration is required in advance as there are no entries available on the day. Participants receive an event number with a timing chip, a souvenir gift, and a goody bag.
For the 10 km event, category prizes are awarded, while spot prizes are distributed across both distances. The event is chip timed by Sports Timing, and results are processed after the conclusion of the races. For safety reasons, the use of headphones is not permitted during the event.
Facilities and Logistics
Race number and goody bag collection takes place at the MTU Arena in the days leading up to the event, with an option for postal delivery available for early registrants. The venue at MTU Bishopstown serves as the central hub for the start and finish lines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
