Real People Helping People Trail Races
The Real People Helping People event is a trail running competition held in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. The races start and finish at the Durty Dabber Pavilion in McElhattan. Proceeds from the event support the Haven Summer Youth Program, which provides meals and activities for children, as well as the Central Mountain Cross Country team.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 2.5 mile
The 10 km trail is a loop course with approximately 1500 feet of elevation gain. It utilizes wooded singletrack paths and trails within Zindel Park. The route includes segments such as Goat Path, Gut Check, Laurel Trail, Black Diamond, and Kellers Bench before returning to the pavilion for the final ascent.
The 5 km trail follows a moderate course through the woods. It travels along the Creekside Trail into the McElhattan Nature Park loop and returns across a creek bridge to the finish line. The 2.5 mile option is an untimed trail run that follows the shaded forest paths of the Creekside Trail and the McElhattan Nature Park loop.
The event site is accessible from Route 220 via the McElhattan Exit. Parking is available onsite at the Durty Dabber Pavilion, located on Reservoir Road. Food is provided for participants after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
