Ready to Run 20 Miler

The Ready to Run 20 Miler is a fully supported, point-to-point 20-mile training run along Chicago's Lakefront Trail. The course begins at the Montrose Wilson Track and finishes at Jackson Park; there are no loops.

Aid stations are placed approximately every 2 miles and provide water and Gatorade Endurance. Most aid stations have nearby restroom facilities or portable toilets and on-site medical support. Gear check is available at the start and gear is transported to the finish for retrieval; participants must present their bib to collect gear. There is no covered gear check, so waterproof bags are recommended in wet weather.

Shuttle buses transport participants from the finish back to the start and a limited number provide direct service to a downtown Grant Park stop. Shuttle service runs repeatedly after the run; buses are available for participants only.

The event is organized as a supported training run rather than a competitive, timed race. Participants are asked to self-seed into pace corrals by expected average pace; pacers from CARA training programs lead many groups. Participants must finish within five hours after the last on-time start. Results and awards are not kept.

Registration options include member pricing with a 10% discount for CARA Supporter level members and an option to add bib mailing for a fee during registration. Pre-event bib pick-up is required; there is no event-day bib pick-up. Participants must be at least 16 years old. Refunds and deferrals are not issued for any reason. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
