Ready to Run 20 Miler : Chicago lakefront training run
The Ready to Run event is a fully supported 20-Mile training run held on a point-to-point course along Chicago’s lakefront. The course starts at the Montrose Wilson Track on the north end of the Lakefront Trail and finishes at Jackson Park Grove 19a/b on the south end of the Lakefront Trail.
Aid stations are placed approximately every 2 miles and offer water and Gatorade Endurance. Most aid stations will have restroom access and on-site medical support. Gear check is available at the start and transported to the finish for retrieval with a bib. There is no covered gear check; participants are advised to plan for inclement weather.
Pace groups are organized by expected pace and include CARA training program pacers; pacers for marathon-distance events may be added as needed. The event uses self-selected start corrals with multiple pace signs to organize runners. Buses run after the finish to return participants to the start and a limited number of buses run directly to a downtown Grant Park stop.
This event is organized as a training run rather than a race. Results and awards are not kept. Participants must be at least 16 years old and must finish within five hours after the last on-time start, which corresponds to a 15 minute per mile pace. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
