Rayne'ing Medals Anniversary
This event is a lapped running meeting on the Flitch Way at Rayne, held in 2027 to mark the anniversary of the organiser's first H&T event nine years earlier. The venue is Rayne Station on New Road, Braintree CM77 6RX.
Distances available:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
- 6 hour timed challenge
Each loop is 5.3 km in length. Two loops equal 10 km, four loops make a half marathon and eight loops cover the full marathon distance. The 6 hour event is limited by the clock rather than a set distance. A route update provides two marked 5.3 km loop options; participants may choose a direction after every lap and may run the same loop or alternate between the two.
There is an aid station at the end of every lap. The aid station offers flapjacks, fruit and nuts, water and squash, and competitors may leave a personal bag at the station. The event operates as a cupless event to reduce plastic waste; participants must provide their own receptacle such as a reusable cup or soft flask. A Hydrapak Speedcup is available to purchase as noted by the organiser.
The course is traffic free, out and back on a hard-packed trail, with sections mostly uphill or downhill and sometimes almost flat. The Flitch Way runs about 15 miles through the Essex countryside between Braintree and Bishops Stortford and follows the line of the former Bishops Stortford to Braintree railway, opened in 1869 and closed in 1969.
Parking at the Booking Hall is limited; parking is also possible on New Road opposite the Flitch Way. Bins are provided at the lap end and participants are asked to dispose of rubbish responsibly. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
