Triathlon y Bala 2026
Triathlon y Bala is a triathlon event held in Bala with lake swimming in Llyn Tegid. The swim uses a water start with Aran Fawddwy visible from the shoreline. The event includes bike and run courses routed from the lakeside surroundings.
The event offers multiple race distances:
- Sprint : 750m swim, 19.3km bike, 5km run
- Standard : 1500m swim, 37km bike, 10km run
- Legend (70.3) : 1900m swim, 87.3km bike, 19km run
For 2026 the Standard distance will host the British Championships, the Welsh Triathlon Super Series Grand Final and an Age Group qualifier for the European Championships. The event also supports Tom Harrison House, an addiction recovery centre for veterans and emergency service personnel. Participants can fundraise for the charity; there is no minimum donation and free charity places are available through the charity.
On-site features include an event village with music, commentary, shopping and food; family friendly finishes; marshals, signage and pickup vehicles for on-course support; unique finisher mementos; and chip timing with live online results. Event operations are bilingual in English and Welsh.
