The Rathfinny Run

The Rathfinny Run is an off-road trail event held at the Rathfinny Wine Estate in East Sussex. The race course consists of an undulating 10.7 km loop within the estate grounds. Participants can choose between two distances:

  • 10.7 km (one loop)
  • 21.4 km Half Marathon (two loops)

The event is designed with a focus on environmental sustainability and is carbon neutral. No single-use plastics are used on race day, and the event follows a cup-less policy, requiring runners to bring their own hydration equipment. Instead of traditional race t-shirts, finishers receive Seeds of Hope and recycled slate medals. Distance markers are placed every 2 km along the route. Time limits are in place for both distances, with a 3 hour cut-off for the half marathon and 1 hour 40 minutes for the 10.7 km race.

The event supports the WOLO Foundation, a charity that assists families in Sussex affected by cancer. A portion of the proceeds is donated to the foundation, and thirty free spaces are reserved for runners fundraising for the charity.

Facilities at the venue include a warm-up session and a raffle for trainer repair kits. Free parking is available at the Rathfinny Wine Estate for vehicles carrying two or more runners, while single-occupancy vehicles (excluding electric cars) are charged a fee that is donated to charity. A free shuttle bus service for runners operates from Berwick station to the venue to support carbon-neutral travel. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
