The Rathfinny Run - 10.7 km and Half Marathon
The Rathfinny Run takes place at Rathfinny Wine Estate in the South Downs National Park. The event offers two distances around an off-road loop inside the estate:
- 10.7 km single loop
- 21.4 km double loop (two laps of the same course)
Each loop is an undulating off-road trail with approximately 220 metres of elevation per lap. The surface is mainly grass trail with sections of hard track and wooded trails. Runners should expect cambers, bumps, tight switchbacks and several hills; the course can become muddy in wet weather. Distance markers appear every 2 km.
Aid provision includes a well-stocked water and banana station at the 5 km marker and at the start/finish. No single-use cups will be provided so participants should bring their own cup or bottle. Portable toilets are available near the car park and The Tasting Room. A bag drop is offered at the start at the owner’s risk.
The event operates a chip timing system and reports results on gun time. Recycled slate medals will be awarded to all finishers. Trophies and bottles of Sussex sparkling wine are planned for the first three men and women in each distance. First aid will be stationed at the finish and marshals will be positioned along the route; marshals will carry radios where there is no mobile signal.
This is a carbon neutral, cup-less event with no single-use plastics. Thirty free charity places support the WOLO Foundation, which assists families in Sussex affected by cancer. A kit swap shop will be available and spectators are welcome; runners must not bring dogs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
