Rat Race 100 Edinburgh
The Rat Race 100 Edinburgh to Glamis is a fully supported 100 mile (160 km) run/trek held over a 48 hour completion window from 24 - 26 July 2027. It is part of a three-event trilogy where each 100 mile edition continues from the previous finish; completing all three earns a Trilogy Finisher buckle.
The event has no qualifying times and is described as walker friendly with a planned moving pace of 2.5 mph. Routes are fully waymarked with bright orange arrows and staffed at key locations. The organiser moves up to five participant bags during the event, including a finish bag allowance of up to 15 kg and 70 L. Designated sleep stations at Pit Stops 6, 7 and 8 permit an increased sleep bag allowance (up to 25 L and 10 kg).
Pit Stops provide water, juice, sweet and salty snacks, fruit, toilets and an on-site medical team; some Pit Stops offer enhanced hot food options. Medical provision is delivered by a professional event medic service with qualified paramedics and doctors and independent safety auditing. There are enforced cut-offs after Pit Stop 6, set around mile markers 57, 66, 78 and 92 and aligned to the 2.5 mph moving pace.
Registration and tracker collection take place in Edinburgh city centre on the Friday before the event. Participants must be over 18 on the day of registration. The organiser publishes training plans and a GPX file for the route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
