Rat Race 100 Edinburgh
Rat Race 100 Edinburgh is a fully supported, waymarked 100 miles (160 km) ultramarathon held over a 48 hours completion window on 24 to 26 July 2027. This edition forms one part of a three event trilogy where each route starts where the previous one finished; this leg runs from Edinburgh towards Glamis Castle and is described as the flattest and most urban of the trilogy.
Registration and tracker collection take place in Edinburgh city centre on the Friday before the event. The route is walker friendly with a nominal moving pace of 2.5 mph and no qualifying times required. The event provides multiple staffed Pit Stops with food, water, toilets and medical cover; some Pit Stops are designated Simple and others Enhanced with hot or expanded food options. Pit Stop locations include stops around 9, 18, 32, 40, 45, 57, 66, 78 and 92 miles.
The organiser will transport up to five bags for each participant with specified size and weight limits; finish bags have a larger allowance. Selected Pit Stops offer sleep stations with an increased bag allowance and guidance on sleep kit. Medical teams are professional paramedics and doctors supported by dedicated vehicles and ambulance cover. Participants must be 18 or older on the day of registration.
