Rat Race 100 Edinburgh
The Rat Race 100 Edinburgh is a fully supported 100 miles (160 km) ultramarathon presented as part of a three‑event trilogy. The event covers urban and rural terrain between Edinburgh and Glamis and is open to walkers and runners. Dates for this edition are 24 to 26 July 2027 and the event allows a 48 hours completion window.
There are no qualifying times and the route is organised around a walker friendly 2.5 mph completion pace. The course is fully waymarked with bright orange arrows and staffed marshals at key locations. The event provides on-course logistics including up to five transported drop bags with size and weight limits, a larger finish bag allowance, and a sweeper service for participants who withdraw.
Medical provision is delivered by a professional team contracted from Trail Med, including paramedics and doctors in vehicles and a private ambulance. Pit Stops are staffed and stocked with water, juice, sweet and savory snacks, fruit, toilets and medical support; some Pit Stops offer enhanced hot and cold food options. Sleep station facilities are available at designated Pit Stops with an increased bag allowance for sleep kit.
The Rat Race Trilogy links three 100 mile events so each edition starts where the previous one finished. Completing all three editions earns the Trilogy Finisher buckle. Registration and tracker collection take place in Edinburgh city centre the day before the start. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
