Rat Race 100 Edinburgh
Rat Race 100 Edinburgh is a mass participation 100 mile (160 km) ultramarathon event held as part of a three-part trilogy. Editions are scheduled for 25-27 July 2026 and 24-26 July 2027. The event duration is 48 hours and the discipline is Run/Trek.
The route is fully waymarked with bright orange arrows and is fully supported with staffed Pit Stops, bag transport and a sweeper service. There are no qualifying times and the event is walker friendly, with a target moving pace used in planning of 2.5 mph. Medical cover is provided by a professional team from Trail Med, including paramedics, doctors and a private ambulance; event safety and risk management are independently audited.
Pit Stops are positioned along the course at approximately 9, 18, 32, 40, 45, 57, 66, 78 and 92 miles with a mix of simple and enhanced stations offering water, snacks, toilets and medical support; some enhanced stops provide hot food. The organiser will transport up to five drop bags for each participant, with a larger finish bag allowed. Sleep station options are available at the 57, 66 and 78 mile Pit Stops with increased bag allowances and guidance on rest kit. Participants must be over 18 on the day of Registration.
