Ras Rhobell Fawr Fell Race Nov 7 2026
Ras Rhobell Fawr is an out-and-back fell race of approximately 6 miles with about 1900 ft of ascent. The course climbs through fields and tracks before following a wall to the summit and returns to the start. The route includes a steep green road section between the lower fields and the mountain that is noted as deteriorating in places.
The event is the first race in the Meirionnydd Winter Race Series and is organised by Meirionnydd Running Club. Llanfachreth village hall is used as the start and finish location; recent editions have used a nearby old school building for registration while the hall was being refurbished. A junior race uses the same course and starts shortly after the senior race. On-the-day entry for juniors is listed as £2.
Runners are required to carry full WFRA kit as a minimum and to wear fell shoes; organisers have noted that hard hats should have been included on the minimum kit list. Safety information and a race map are provided for competitors. Post-race soups are provided by the club. A race report from 2025 records 57 participants, autumnal weather and underfoot conditions described as merely moist. The club operates the event with volunteers and external helpers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
