Event overview

The Ranger Ultras High Peak Ultra is scheduled for 17 to 18 October 2026 in the High Peak area of Derbyshire, based at Whaley Bridge. Two distance options are offered:

  • 70 km
  • 100 km

Entries open 13 December 2025 and close 9 October 2026. Minimum age is 20 on the event date. Entry fees are listed as £53 (affiliated) and £55 (unaffiliated). Entries are limited to 100 participants. The race has a 24 hour cut-off to complete the course. GPX files and a race briefing document are provided to entrants.

Course, format and support

The route is an out-and-back from Whaley Bridge to Newhaven for the 70 km, and to Middleton Top near Cromford for the 100 km. The course passes up the Goyt Valley, through Buxton, across the White Peak, past the Minninglow burial mound and along the Pennine Bridleway to the River Derwent. Total ascent for the out-and-back is 1460 metres. Runners who reach the 70 km turn point (at 35 km) in under 7 hours of elapsed race time may choose to stop at 70 km or continue to 100 km.

Ranger Safety Team support is provided at HQ and at regular intervals on course, with water, snacks and hot soup. Finish arrangements include pasta dinner, hot drinks, breakfast on Sunday morning, finishers' eco-medals and trophies for category winners. A detailed compulsory kit list is enforced; required items include a backpack, waterproof jacket, head torch with backup, compass (base plate), paper map, emergency bivvy, sufficient food and fluids, first aid kit, mobile phone with UK SIM, and a litter bag.
