Icebreaker Tri
Icebreaker Tri is the first event of the TriUtah season held at the American Fork Fitness Center in American Fork, Utah. The event features multiple short-course formats staged around a pool swim, a bike course that uses local roads, and a 5k run loop on paved streets and sidewalks.
The event offers these race formats and distances:
- Triathlon: 300 meter pool swim, 12.5 mile bike, 5k run loop
- Duathlon: 12.5 mile bike, 5k run loop
- Aquathon: 300 meter pool swim, 5k run loop
- Aquabike: 300 meter pool swim, 12.5 mile bike
- 5k Fun Run: 5k run loop
The swim takes place in the pool using a serpentine pattern across six lanes. Swimmers self-seed by estimated pace and start at short intervals with overhead signs indicating approximate pace per 100 yards. The bike course is two loops on American Fork and Highland roads, with mount and dismount points at transition and no aid stations on the bike. The run course is a single 5k loop with aid stations at the transition exit and near miles 1 and 2.
Packet pickup is offered on multiple days before the event, with no packet pickup on race morning. Race packets include a bib, bike and helmet stickers, a swim cap for swim entrants, and a finisher medal. Medical personnel and certified lifeguards are on site. All participants are timed with swim, bike and run splits and awards are given by category and age group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
