Rage Against Riverhead
Rage Against Riverhead is a timed trail event held in Riverhead Forest. Solo runners or relay teams of 2, 4 or 6 people attempt to complete as many 5 km laps as possible in an 8 hour, 12 hour or 24 hour category. Only one person from each team may be on the course at any time.
The course runs through commercial pine forest with a mix of smooth single trail and wider dirt tracks, with about 50 m of gravel road and roughly 70 m of vertical gain per lap. A revised section replaces a swamped area with newly built single trail through mature pine. Lap timing uses the start/finish gantry; transitions occur at each team tent site on the event base.
Each solo entry and team receives a 3m x 4m tent site at the base. Teams tag in and out outside their tent. There is no mains power or mains water on site, no vehicles on tent sites and the event is cup free so participants should bring their own vessel for water. There are portaloos at the event base and a women only portaloo on course for quick use.
Team rules require all members to be at least 14 years old and each member to complete at least two laps. Mixed team gender minimums apply. No non competitors or animals are allowed on the course. No personal support is permitted during a lap and no artificial aids including poles are allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
