Rae of Sunshine 5K and 1 Mile Walk
This community event is held in memory of a young child and raises funds for a memorial scholarship in her name. It includes a timed 5K run and a 1 Mile walk, both organized around the Pittston/Hughestown area in Pennsylvania.
Location details note the Pittston Area Primary Center and nearby streets. The 5K course runs through the streets of Hughestown Borough and the event both starts and finishes at the Pittston Area Primary Center, Rock Street, Hughestown/Pittston, PA.
Registration opens February 4, 2026, and closes June 25, 2026. The standard registration fee is $20; race day registration increases to $30. Pre-entry packet pickup is available at the entrance to the Pittston Area Primary Center and will be organized by last-name ranges A-L and M-Z.
Hydration is provided with individual water bottles available at the finish; participants may bring their own water for use during the run. Event apparel is limited: a Rae of Sunshine 5K T-shirt will be given to the first 50 registered runners or walkers, with no giveaway after June 9, 2026.
Awards include age-group medals in ten-year spans, top-three awards by gender within each division, and cash prizes of $100 for the top female and top male 5K finishers. Awards will be presented after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
