Damon S. Young Memorial Race
The Damon S. Young Memorial Race takes place on the Young Family property in Centermoreland near Tunkhannock, PA (161 Pine Ridge Road). The event uses dirt roads, mowed grass fields, and wooded trails with the start and finish on the property.
The course begins with a downhill start and quickly moves onto a mowed grass path through fields, then onto dirt roads and single-track trails through the woods. The 5k route includes roughly a mile of trails before returning on the dirt road. The 10k splits from the 5k and continues on trails and fields, including about 4 miles through trees before heading back. The half marathon is two laps of the 10k course. Each 10k lap has about 750-850 ft of climbing, making the half marathon roughly 1500-1700 ft of climbing.
Aid and support for the half marathon include two water-only stations and three fully stocked aid stations located at approximate mile markers. Awards are given to overall male and female winners in the 5k, 10k, and half marathon. Registered participants are offered post-race food including Greenley’s BBQ and Bernie’s Pizza, and there are DSY items and raffle baskets for sale.
