Racin' Around the Lake Half

Event details
The Racin’ Around the Lake event takes place on March 28 at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, VA. It offers the following distances:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half marathon
Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (DriFit) event shirt, and chip timing. A virtual race option is available. Walkers and strollers are welcome. The event partners with the Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation. Registration fees listed are: 5k $30 (then $35), 10k $45 (then $50), Half $65 (then $70) with an additional $5 increase on race morning. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before March 18; extra shirts may be available after that on a first-come, first-served basis.
Course and logistics
The courses run on trails at Burke Lake Park, starting and ending near Shelter A (7315 Ox Rd). The route is described as fairly flat and well maintained but includes tree roots to navigate. The 5k and 10k are single out-and-back courses; the half marathon is an out-and-back completed twice. Water stations are provided at specific mile markers: nine along the half marathon (approx. miles 1.1, 3.1, 3.5, 5.1, 6.55, 7.65, 9.65, 10, and 12), three on the 10k (approx. miles 1.1, 3.1, and 5.1), and two on the 5k (approx. miles 1.1 and 2). Gatorade will be available at some stations. Chip-timed live results are posted during the race and final results with series points are posted the Monday after the event. Packet pickup is available at the event and race day registration is offered. Awards are given to top overall finishers and age-group placings.
