Raceway 5K/3K
The Raceway 5K/3K is an annual running and walking event held at the Raceway Woods Forest Preserve in Carpentersville, Illinois. The course is situated on the historic grounds of the former Meadowdale International Speedway, located at the northwest corner of Route 31 and Main Street/Huntley Road. Participants navigate a route that includes curves, straightaways, bank turns, and hills through the forest preserve scenery.
The event offers several participation options:
- 5 km Run/Walk
- 3 km Run/Walk
- Virtual 5K/3K (completed independently during the month of August)
The race is open to dogs, with a specific "Top Dog" award category and special items for canine participants. Competitive tracking is organized across various age groups, starting from 14 and under up to 60 and over. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top team based on the times of the first five finishers.
Proceeds from the event support the Rotary Club of Carpentersville and its charitable initiatives. These include the Carpentersville F.I.S.H. Food Pantry and Operation Warm, which provides new coats for local children. Registration is available in advance, with an option for race day registration near the starting line for an additional fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
