Race4Warriors Half Marathon and Challenge Events
Race4Warriors is a community event in Lewes, Delaware, that offers distance challenges on trails and beaches to support Wounded Warriors and Homeless Veterans. The event begins and ends at American Legion Post 17 and uses routes through Cape Henlopen State Park and the historic Fort Miles and Rehoboth Beach. All three distances are USATF certified.
Participants may choose among three formats for each distance: a run, a race-walk called a March, or a Heavy March which is a trail event completed while carrying a 15 lb pack. Distances offered include:
- 5K
- 10K
- Half Marathon
The event combines three components: competition, education, and celebration. An on-site Middle East historical exhibit is planned as an educational walk-through. A Celebration of Warriors area will feature local vendors and live music during the festival portion of the day. Pre-registered entrants are guaranteed an event t-shirt at check-in, and all finishers receive a race medallion.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at American Legion Post 17, with food and beverages available and evening music. The race is intended to bring military and civilian communities together and will proceed in varied weather except when conditions make outdoor activity unsafe.
