Run or March Through Historic Lewes
The Race4Warriors event takes place in Lewes, Delaware, with activities centered at the American Legion, Post 17. The courses travel through Cape Henlopen State Park, Rehoboth Beach, and the historic Fort Miles. Participants can choose from several distances and participation styles, including traditional running, race walking, and a heavy march challenge. All race courses are USATF certified and feature a mix of hardened surfaces, crushed gravel trails, and rolling hills.
Available distances and categories include:
- 5K: Choices of run, race walk, or heavy march with a 15 lb pack.
- 10K: Choices of run, race walk, or heavy march on a hardened surface.
- 13.1 Miles: Choices of run, race walk, or heavy march through state park trails.
In the Heavy March category for the 13.1 Miles distance, participants carry a 15 lb pack of nonperishable food. This food is weighed at the finish line and donated to shelters for homeless veterans.
The event site features a Middle East Historical Exhibit, providing an educational walk-through of history for participants and spectators. A celebration area includes local vendors and live music performances throughout the day. Participants who register by May 3, 2026, receive an event t-shirt, and all finishers are awarded a race medallion.
