Race The Tram Edinburgh

Race The Tram is a city navigation event that begins and finishes at Edinburgh Park Central tram station. Runners choose a tram start point, travel there by tram, then run back to Edinburgh Park Central using their own route. The race begins when the tram doors open for each group.

Distances from the tram start points are approximately:

  • St Andrew Square - approx. 5.5 miles, 70 minutes to beat the tram
  • Foot of the Walk - approx. 7 miles, 60 minutes to beat the tram
  • Newhaven Terminus - approx. 7.5 miles, 50 minutes to beat the tram

The event is open to all runners. Under 17s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Entry is £20 and includes an optional £1 donation to charity. Participants receive a goodie bag and a race memento. Prizes are awarded to the first, second and third finishers from each tram start location. The event is not chip timed; the objective is to beat the tram back to base.

There are no road closures for the route. Runners are responsible for their own safety and should take care when crossing roads. The event supports Spencer Dayman Meningitis Research as a supported charity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
