Race of The Runways 5K
The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach organizes the 17th Anniversary Race of the Runways at Flagler Executive Airport. The event is an evening run or walk along illuminated airport runways under the searchlight of a circling helicopter. Participants may wear glow in the dark clothing and light up costumes; prizes will be awarded for best costumes and glow sticks are not allowed.
Event options include:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 100 yards Kiddie Dash
- 3.1 miles Virtual 5K
Registration for events opens in September 2026; some events close registration on February 5, 2027, while the Kiddie Dash accepts registrations through February 27, 2027. The published fee schedule is: $40 through February 6, $45 February 7 through February 27 and on race day; for participants 12 and under $20 through February 27 and $25 on race day. Kiddie Dash fee is $5 and does not include a T shirt.
Packet pick up is available at Flagler Executive Airport on the day before the event and on race day. Virtual participants may request shipping for medals and shirts or arrange pickup at the airport on specified pickup dates in late February and March. The first 500 preregistered finishers who complete registration by February 6 are guaranteed a free race T shirt. Free parking is available at the airport. Participants are timed and scored with a disposable chip on the bib. Dogs are not allowed and strollers are welcome. Finisher medals are provided.
