Ocean's 26.2 Relay Race and 6k run and Ruck
This event offers a marathon distance experience in team relay format and as a solo marathon, plus a separate 6k run and ruck on the Mala Compra Trails in Palm Coast, Florida. The main course is a three-loop route that starts, ends, and handles exchanges at the same transition area. The Atlantic Ocean is nearby along much of the route. The loop format was adopted due to permitting restrictions and keeps exchanges centralized.
Teams may be composed of two or three participants and are entered in Male, Female, or Coed categories. Ruck relay teams follow the same category format. Each team must designate a team captain who registers and pays for the entire team and then invites teammates to complete registration.
The solo marathon follows the same loops as the relays and has a 6 1/2 hour cutoff. The 6k covers about 3.7 miles on a loop that starts and ends at the Hammock Community Center; most of that course is on hard packed trail and boardwalk with some sidewalk along A1A and Mala Compra Road. 6k participants receive a custom beanie, a finishers medal, food at the finish, and awards for top finishers.
Awards are planned for top teams in relay divisions and for individual 6k finishers and masters. The event lists Sombrero Outreach Foundation as a community charity partner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
