Race in the Clouds - Alma Dirt Festival 2027
Race in the Clouds is a three-day dirt festival in Alma Cemetery Meadow, Alma, Colorado (ZIP 80420) at about 10,600 feet elevation. The event spans mountain bike racing, off-road duathlon, trail running and weekend camping across June 25–27, 2027. This is the fourth year of the festival.
The weekend program includes a free kids mountain bike and trail run for ages 12 and under, multi-distance mountain bike races, an off-road duathlon with individual and relay options, and trail runs on Sunday. The Trail Half Marathon features a new course of about 13 miles with roughly 2,600 feet of climbing and sections above tree line. Leashed dogs are allowed in the Sunday Trail 10K with a dedicated Doggie Division.
Course terrain mixes single-track, forest service roads and graded county roads. Each loop includes two significant climbs, fast descents and classic high-country terrain. Camping is available at the start line in an alpine meadow framed by 14,000-foot peaks; athletes receive a 50% camping discount with race entry. Camping opens on Thursday morning and early arrival is possible with a camping pass. Porta potties are provided in the meadow.
Awards include overall top Men, Women and Non-Binary in each race format, multiple age group categories from U23 through 70 plus, and dedicated High School and Middle School divisions. The festival is hosted by local community organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
