Leadville Trail Marathon & Heavy Half
The Leadville Trail Marathon and Heavy Half take place on June 27, 2026 in Leadville, Colorado. Both races run on out-and-back dirt roads and single track through the historic mining district on the east side of Leadville. The course tops out at 13,185 feet at Mosquito Pass; there is a chance of encountering snow on the route. Courses are marked with fluorescent pink-and-black striped ribbon and flour arrows on the ground.
- Marathon: 26.4 miles out-and-back on old mining roads and trails.
- Heavy Half: 15.46 miles along the same path as the marathon minus the Ball Mountain section.
The Heavy Half has three well-supplied aid stations and the marathon has seven; aid station locations are listed by mile on official materials. There are course cutoff points in place for both distances. On-course nutrition includes Neversecond products and Skratch Labs hydration and fuel at aid stations.
General registration is sold out and a waitlist is available. Minimum age is 16 for the marathon and 14 for the Heavy Half. Entry fees are listed as Marathon $160 and Heavy Half $140. Packet pickup requires a photo ID and must be done in person; no on-site registration or distance changes are allowed. Parking and crew access are controlled: crews and spectators are allowed only at the Start/Finish area and the Resurrection aid station, and all participants and crews must use designated parking with shuttle service to the start. The marathon also serves as a qualifier for the Leadville Trail 100 Run and qualifier coins are awarded at the awards ceremony. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
