Event details

The Life Time Leadville Trail Marathon & Heavy Half is scheduled for June 27, 2026. Registration opens on 1/9/26. The event offers two distances:

  • 26.4 miles (Trail Marathon)
  • ~15.5 miles (Heavy Half)

Minimum ages are 16 for the marathon and 14 for the Heavy Half. Entry fees listed for 2026 are $160 for the marathon and $140 for the Heavy Half.

Course and aid stations

The course runs on out-and-back dirt roads and single track through the historic mining district on the east side of Leadville. The route tops out at 13,185 feet at Mosquito Pass. The course may include snow in places and will be marked with fluorescent pink-and-black striped ribbon and flour arrows. Heavy Half aid coverage is three stations, including Resurrection and Mosquito Pass and a finish station; the marathon has seven aid stations, including multiple Adelaide and Resurrection stations and a Mosquito Pass station. Aid stations provide water, Neversecond energy gels and high-carbohydrate drink mix, Skratch Labs hydration products, bars, chews, and assorted foods.

Logistics, awards and support

All athletes and crews must park at Community Fields and the High School parking lot and use shuttles or other transport to the start; there is no parking at the startline. Awards are presented at an expo awards ceremony and include overall, para, non-binary, and age-group prizes across standard age brackets (under 19 through 70+). The marathon serves as a qualifier for the Leadville Trail 100 Run; a minimum of 35 qualifier coins are allocated at the event and coins are awarded only to finishers of the longest distance. Volunteers and medical volunteers are requested to support the event. On-course nutrition is provided by Neversecond and Skratch Labs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
