Race for the Summitt : 13th Annual 5K
The 13th Annual Race for the Summitt 5K is scheduled for October 31, 2026, in Knoxville, Tennessee, at 2351 Kingston Pike. The event is organized by current pharmacy students at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy and the student organization American Pharmacist Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP).
The event features a 5K run or walk. Registration opens June 12, 2026 and closes September 16, 2026; the registration fee is $25.00. All proceeds from the race are given to the Pat Summitt Foundation, which was established to support research and awareness of Alzheimer’s disease.
The event references the legacy of Pat Summitt, who served as head coach of the University of Tennessee Lady Vols from 1974 to 2012, recorded over 1,000 career wins, and did not have a losing season at the university. Summitt was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2011 and died in 2016. The race also promotes Memory Donor registration as part of its fundraising and awareness activities.
