Race for the Dome
The Race for the Dome is an annual athletic event held in Houston, Texas, specifically at the site of the historic Astrodome. The event serves as a fundraiser benefiting the Astrodome Conservancy, an organization dedicated to the preservation and future of the stadium known as the Eighth Wonder of the World. The occurrence in April aligns with the celebration of the Astrodome’s 61st birthday.
Participants have the option to choose between two distinct distances:
- 5K road race
- 1K Kids run and family walk
The event emphasizes the history of the venue, and participants are known to wear vintage sports gear or apparel related to the stadium. Activities take place surrounding the stadium grounds at NRG Park. The gathering brings together fans and supporters of the landmark for a commemorative celebration following the completion of the races.
