Race for Rescue (Oahu)
The Race for Rescue is the primary annual fund raising event for Oahu Search and Rescue, presented as a 5K event held each October. The event helps fund the organization's operating needs for the following year, including insurance, technical rescue gear, and educational supplies.
For 2026 the in-person 5K is set at Kaiwi Mauka on the southeastern tip of Oahu, just outside Hawaii Kai. The out-and-back trail climbs into a valley, gains elevation above a nearby golf course, and then returns downhill to the start and finish area. The course is not stroller friendly.
A virtual 5K option is offered for October 2026; participants may complete a 5K at a location and time they choose within the race window and then upload their results. Registration for the listed 2026 events opens July 20, 2026, and the published registration fee for each entry is $40. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
