Race for Rescue 5K - Oahu
The Race for Rescue is Oahu Search and Rescue’s annual fundraising 5K with both an in person option and a virtual option. The in person event takes place on the slopes of Kaiwi Mauka in Hawaii Kai on a new course located on lands managed by Livable Maunalua Hui. The course has increased elevation gain compared with prior years and offers scenic views of southern Oahu. An aid station with water and snacks is located mid course.
The virtual option allows participants to run or walk a 5K at a place of their choosing any time during October and then upload results to the race website. Virtual participants who register by September 1 will have race shirts mailed after the event window closes. In person participants who register by September 1 will be able to pick up race shirts on October 25.
Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories, including a best costume award. After completing a virtual entry, participants may enter a drawing for additional prizes by posting a photo with the event tag on social media as described by the organizer. The event supports OSAR’s hiking safety education and search and rescue services for the community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
