Southend-on-Sea 5k
The event is a 5k distance organised by Cancer Research UK at Garon Park, Eastern Avenue, Southend-on-Sea. The route is a double lap with the start and finish on grass and the course made up of a mixture of grass and rubber pathways. The start and finish area is on a showground field next to the 3G football pitches.
Entries are available for adults aged 16 and over and for children aged 6 to 15; children must be registered and accompanied by a parent, guardian or an adult with parental consent. Adults may bring children under 6 free of charge but those children are not registered participants. A minimum fundraising target applies.
Facilities on site include refreshments, toilets, space for pushchairs, and wheelchair access with assistance. Dogs are allowed and there are 16 bike racks near the park entrance; bike locks can be hired from the Pitch side Café. Parking is available in an overflow car park a short walk from the site and blue badge parking is located in the Leisure Centre car park approximately 150 metres from the event. Public transport access includes buses on Eastern Avenue and Southend Central station about 3 miles away.
In wet weather the grass sections may become soft or slippery and some points on the double lap route may experience congestion. Participants receive a medal and a fundraising pack along with event support materials. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
