Wakefield Pretty Muddy 5k
The event is a Pretty Muddy obstacle course covering 5k at Thornes Park, Horbury Road, Wakefield WF2 8TY. The course mixes surfaced sections, woodland paths and undulating grass. The start and finish are on grass which can be uneven. The route includes rolling hills, sloping downhills and uphill gradients and features multiple obstacles that require climbing, crawling and sliding.
Participants must be 13 years of age or older to take part in the main Pretty Muddy event. Children under the age of 6 may attend with a registered adult but are not registered participants. Marshals are present on the course and participants move in staggered waves, with each wave starting 15 minutes after the previous one to manage safety.
Facilities on site include toilets and refreshments. There is no designated event parking at the venue; town centre pay and display car parks are approximately a 10 to 15 minute walk away. Drop offs are possible at the Horbury Road entrance but there is no parking there. Blue badge and volunteer parking are available in the Athletics Stadium car park, with a short walk to the event site. The nearest train station is Wakefield Westgate, about a 10 to 15 minute walk. Cycling racks are not available.
The event supports fundraising for cancer research. Registered participants receive a fundraising pack, a customisable back sign, training support and a Race for Life medal on completion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
