Crawley Pretty Muddy 5k
The event is a Pretty Muddy 5k obstacle course held at Tilgate Park, Titmus Drive, Crawley, RH10 5PQ. The start and finish are on grass on the western side of Tilgate (Campbell's) Lake, down the hill from Tilgate Playground. The route is a double lap on pathways around Tilgate Lake and the Nature Reserve and includes a mix of tarmac, grass, gravel and woodland surfaces.
The course contains a few inclines and declines, uneven surfaces and may become soft, muddy or slippery in wet weather. There can be congestion within the woods and the Walled Garden. Participants climb, crawl and slide around obstacles; marshals are available to assist and some obstacles may be skipped if needed. Waves are used to stagger starts, with each wave starting at regular intervals.
Practical details include accessible parking options and a short accessible route from Tilgate Car Park to the event site of about 240 m with assistance. Other travel options noted are local bus services, the nearest train station Three Bridges, and bike racks in the park with about 19 spaces. Facilities on site include refreshments, toilets and parking; bag drop and showers are not available. The event is not wheelchair accessible and the minimum age to participate is 13 years.
