Race for Life Folkestone - The Leas
Race for Life Folkestone is an organised fundraising running event by Cancer Research UK held on The Leas in Folkestone, outside The Grand (CT20 2XL). The event offers two distances:
- 10k
- 5k
The course starts and finishes on grass and follows the Leas with sea views, down a zig zag path onto the sea wall towards Sandgate, then turns back just before Sandgate and finishes with a steep incline returning to The Leas. The route is chip-timed.
Facilities listed for the event include refreshments and toilets. Dogs are allowed. The event does not provide bag drop or showers and is not suitable for pushchairs. It is not wheelchair accessible. A number of blue badge parking spaces are allocated in front of The Grand; there is no designated general event parking. Electric vehicle charging points are available nearby at the Best Western and the Civic Centre, at distances noted in event information.
Public transport options include the 10A bus to Metropole East and nearby train stations Folkestone West and Folkestone Central, each about 1 mile from the site. There are no dedicated bike racks along The Leas. Participants receive a fundraising pack, a customisable back sign, training support materials, and a Race for Life medal on finishing.
