RACE Cancer Summer Series : Matt Fishman 5K
The event is a fundraising 5K run and walk held on October 25, 2026, along the Charles River at Herter Park in Boston. Organized by Alpha Kappa Sigma and produced by RACE Cancer Foundation, the course is a flat, scenic 3.11 miles that follows the river near Herter Park/Artesani Playground at 1275 Soldiers Field Road.
Proceeds support the Matt Fishman Scholarship, which assists high school students pursuing music as performers or composers who have been impacted by cancer or another medical hardship. The event honors the legacy of Matt Fishman, a 2021 Northeastern University graduate and musician.
Event operations include registration and number pick-up, a 5K run and walk, and an awards presentation. The first 100 entrants receive a commemorative t-shirt. Public transit access notes that Harvard Square Station is about a one mile walk and that bus routes 70, 70A, and 86 stop near Western Avenue and Everett Street, approximately 0.1 mile from the start area. A large parking area (lot #4) is located at 1275 Soldiers Field Road adjacent to the start and finish.
