RACE Cancer Summer Series : Boston 5K Spring & Summer Series
The RACE Cancer Summer Series is a set of eight chip timed 5K races held on Thursday evenings from April through September 2026 at the American Legion Marsh Post #442 in Cambridge, MA. The course runs on paths along the Charles River. Confirmed 2026 dates are 4/30, 5/21, 6/4, 6/18, 7/9, 8/6, 9/10, and 9/24.
The series format includes two race types during the first four events and a single combined race format for the final four events:
- Women's 5K
- Open 5K
The first four dates begin with the Women's 5K followed by the Open 5K approximately 30 minutes later. All races are chip timed. Awards are given to overall and age group finishers, with season points and team scoring used to determine season standings. Top overall finishers earn points based on a time ratio system and each runner’s best six races count toward season ranking.
Post-race gatherings take place at the Marsh Post and include beer provided by Mighty Squirrel and Sicilian pizza from Pinocchio’s. One hundred percent of event proceeds go to charity, including a portion to the American Legion Marsh Post, and the series funds the Sunscreen Squad, which provides free sunscreen at outdoor events across Massachusetts.
Race pass options and individual race fees are published for early and regular registration periods. Number pickup opens 30 minutes before each race and a free secure bag check is available. Volunteer roles receive after-party admission, food, and two drink tickets. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
