Race Around the Place : Carleton Place, October 24, 2026
Race Around the Place is a community organized, chip timed running event held in Carleton Place, Ontario. The event offers multiple distances:
- 5K
- 10K
- 21.1K (half marathon)
The course is based in Carleton Junction in downtown Carleton Place and routes pass through the historic downtown and local recreational paths. The half marathon extends to the hamlet of Appleton and returns to Carleton Place along a section of the Trans Canada Trail.
The event is organized as a not for profit and raises funds for the Lanark County Hunger Stop Food Bank. Volunteers staff water stations, cheer zones, course marshals, and the finish area; volunteer sign up opens in summer 2026 and roles can count toward high school volunteer hours.
Logistics notes published for participants include multiple bib pickup options before race day and limited morning of pickup. Participants must present their confirmation email and a piece of ID to collect a bib; photocopies of a confirmation email are required when picking up on behalf of another person.
Registration management uses Race Roster. Refunds are not offered by the event outside of third party registration insurance selected at the time of sign up. Participant transfers are possible through Race Roster for a $5 administration fee and must be completed by October 1, 2026.
Strollers and baby joggers are permitted in the 5K only and should start near the back of the pack; backpack child carriers are not allowed. Parking options include free street parking and designated lots within walking distance; carpooling is encouraged. The course is described as spectator friendly with multiple cheering zones.
