Event overview
Race Across Scotland is a 215-mile ultra-marathon that follows the Southern Upland Way from Portpatrick to Cockburnspath. The event is scheduled for 8–12 August 2026, has an elevation gain of 7218 m, and is limited to 250 places. Entry is by application and the listed earlybird entry fee is £699. A strict overall cut-off time of 100 hours applies.
Course, support and rules
The route includes 12 checkpoints and several designated bothies and village-hall rest venues. Runners are self-sufficient between checkpoints and must carry mandatory kit, including a hardcopy map of the Southern Upland Way, waterproof coat and trousers, compass, headtorch, survival bag, water purification and a charged mobile phone. A GPS tracker is provided by the organisers.
Support crews are permitted from Checkpoint 3 (Glentrool) onward but are restricted or prohibited at specific locations. Dropbags may be left at registration for access at up to three points and the finish; maximum accepted dropbag size is 50 litres. Pacers or unentered support runners are not permitted. Night or sleep is only allowed at designated village halls, checkpoints or permitted support vehicles. Cut-off times apply at checkpoints and kit checks are carried out at registration.
