Race Across Dorset

Race Across Dorset is an ultra marathon event that crosses the county of Dorset on predominantly off road routes. The event offers longer and shorter options so more runners can follow parts of the route. The course is fully marked and GPX files are provided and mandatory. A kit list is also mandatory and bookable transport is available to support runners.

The route favours trail and rural tracks with minimal road sections and a small number of village crossings. Permissions have been granted to use several private routes. The terrain changes from rolling chalk downland and long straight sections that follow an old Roman way to lowland heath and pine forest in the later stages. The line crosses the river Frome and passes through the walled Saxon town of Wareham on the longer route.

Runners will encounter several notable climbs including the Purbeck ridges near East Creech and the area around Corfe Castle, with scenic views toward Poole Harbour and the English Channel. The event includes aid stations distributed along the course and awards in the form of trophies and medals.
