Race Across Dorset

Race Across Dorset is an ultramarathon that crosses the county of Dorset in a point to point format. The event began in 2022 and returns in 2026 with a revised format and extended distances.

Distances offered include:

  • 100k - starts at Summerlands Camping, Coombe Bissett
  • 50k - starts at Charisworth Farm, south of Blandford
  • Purbeck Traverse - final section from Bere Regis to Kimmeridge

The route is fully marked and GPX files are provided and compulsory. The 100k course contains minimal road sections and passes through only a handful of small villages and the walled Saxon town of Wareham. Terrain includes rolling chalk downland, long Roman road like sections, burial mounds, lowland heath, pine forest and river crossings. Several sustained climbs lead onto the Purbeck ridges with views toward Poole Harbour, Corfe Castle, the English Channel and the Jurassic Coast described from parts of the route.

Event support and requirements include aid stations, trophies and medals, bookable transport and a mandatory kit list. To undertake the 100k runners must have completed a trail marathon in the past 24 months. Age limits apply for the entries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
