Queen Maeve's
Queen Maeve's is a mountain running event on Knocknarea in County Sligo. The main route is a marked mountain course of 6.50 km with about 340 m of climb. A Short Course option of approximately 4 km follows the same route to the cairn and back, and also serves as the junior route.

The race starts and finishes at the large Knocknarea tourist carpark. The route includes two climbs of Knocknarea, running along a wall with views over Strandhill and Coney Island, a descent through a gulley, and a final finish that diverts onto the adjacent Rathcarrick trail for a safer sprint surface. Prizegiving and refreshments take place at the finish line at the carpark.
Entry fees are stated as €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries close on Wednesday 12th August 2026 at 18:00.
This event is part of the North West League. Mandatory Level B kit must be carried or available and may be checked; items listed include a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag.
