Course and logistics

Distances:

  • About 8 km (long course)
  • About 6 km (short/junior course)

The route runs over gravel paths, winding single-track trails and hilly off-road sections. The long course climbs to Union Rock for a short panoramic section, then descends via a boardwalk of about 100 m. The final section is about 2 km of flat gravel to the finish. The short course follows the same route but omits the climb to Union Rock.

The start and finish area is at the car park next to Ballisodare FC, near Ballisodare, Co. Sligo. Parking is on a public car park and should be done considerately; carpooling or cycling is encouraged. All runners must be IMRA members (cost €10 for the calendar year) and must sign in at registration before the race. Juniors must be signed in by a parent or guardian and will run the short course. Prizegiving and refreshments take place at the finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
